PROPERTIES
- The gloss EB gravure varnishes are low in odour, and this for wet as well as dried inks.
- The varnishes are photo-initiator free.
- They have low migration behaviour.
- The surface tension of the cured film is < 34 dyne/cm, except for the lamination EB Varnishes.
- The gravure varnishes can be used with normal plates, coaters and flexo units equipped with EB curing.
- Good adhesion on paper, board, PE-board laminates, and pre-treated foils and films. The lamination EB varnishes give good adhesion on many non-absorbant substrates.
- Surface tension of the printing substrate should be at min 38 dynes/cm.

EB CURING
The varnishes cure under nitrogen atmosphere with electron beam radiation at a speed of 330 MPM (11kV at 30kGeigy)
Best curing properties at oxygen levels below 100ppm.
Post curing: the best chemical resistance is obtained 24 hours after printing.
Rollers: EPDM(Ethylene-Propylene-Diene-Monomers) rollers are recommended for EB inks.
SAFETY
These varnishes are REACH compliant and free from SVHC substances (Reach annex XIV) and substances mentioned on the candidate list (last update 16122014).
We recommend you to consult the SDS in order to be aware of safety precautions that should be taken.
SHELFLIFE & STORAGE
When the EB varnish is stored between 15 and 20°C in its closed original can, shelf life will be minimum 12 months from date of manufacture. Varnishes should be stored away from sunlight, if possible in a dark room.
CLEANING
It is not necessary to clean the press immediately after printing. The varnish will not cure and can be used to continue printing the next day.
